Geneva was greatly honoured to be chosen to host today’s meeting, June 16th 2021, between Joe Biden, President of the United States and Vladimir Putin, President of Russia.
Villa La Grange is a classified historic monument nestled in a large park between the districts of Les Eaux Rives and Parc des Eaux-Rives in Geneva, and it provided a perfect meeting venue. The last such event in Geneva was between President Ronald Reagan and the former leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbatchev.
Leading up to today’s momentous event, the Swiss news had been preparing the city for a different type of lockdown, with much of Geneva cordoned off to transport the Presidents to Villa La Grange and with some 4,000 extra security personnel on duty.
