In the centre of the glamorous resort of Zermatt lies Elsie’s Bar. Serving first class wines and champagnes and a small refined selection of international and Swiss delicacies, there is a great atmosphere in this small elegant bar which has the spirit of the 1920’s. A favourite destination of the jet set for decades, Elsie’s Bar serves fresh oysters, caviar and snails, foie gras and beef tartare alongside its extensive bar menu.
The old building which is opposite the St Mauritius church in the main town square of Zermatt, dates from 1879 and has been known as Elsie’s bar since 1961. Elsie’s Bar is one of the best bars to enjoy an Irish coffee after a long day on the mountains before turning in for the night.
